  2. Imus, just like Al Sharpton does and says things just because of the follow-up media they get.  It's part of who he is and what has made him so popular.  Basically, race will always be something that causes a stir-up.  Big deal . . .

  3. I like Rev. Al

And Imus dug his own hole with his remarks, he has to defend them....he is what he is

  4. I like Al Sharpton, most people think he is a Bulldog, or a bully, but he gives a powerful voice to people unable to get their voice out(Shawn Bell and his family).

    But:

I think Don Imus is an idiot, kind of like the old crazy person with the cardboard sign warning everyone the THE END IS NEAR.  Why are we paying him so much attention?

Because any publicity is good publicity when ratings are in the toilet.

I don't think he's a racist, but he has made some off color jokes about people and their race(not just black).  We should just let the crazy people that listen to him, continue, and leave him alone.

  5. I just shake my head and chuckle when Al Sharpton or anyone else gets their undies in a wad over Don Imus.

How is it that so few people realize that the Imus persona is purposely designed to be controversial?

  6. Imus is an A--hole and always sticking hit foot in his mouth. He keeps getting away with it, though. He did it before and offered a lame excuse and was back on the air. That's all you have to do when you're famous, it seems. Make a crude remark, then apologize, then get sympathy from the public, go to racial-sensitivity classes, and boom! you're back on the air. This country is very forgiving and they forget easily.

  7. WHO PAYS THE FREIGHT?

Al Sharpton is not a member of the media. He is someone who merely attracts media attention.

Imus is a highly compensated broadcaster. When he oversteps (or is perceived to have overstepped) his advertisers and radio station are both subject to financial pressure.

Sharpton can determine what he says. Imus can determine what is broadcast, whether comments from himself or of Sharpton.

A comparison between the two is inappropriate.

If you compared Imus to David Duke, Imus would be the first to take you on about it. But it would not put Duke and Imus in the same ballpark.
