Don King wants State of Nevada to investigate Russell Mora for inappropriate conduct – Boxing news
The promoter, Don King, has appealed to the State of Nevada to investigate referee Russell Mora for violating the boxing rules by displaying inappropriate conduct during the Joseph Agbeko vs. Abner Mares bout.
The King Kong, Agbeko and the Mexican pugilist, Mares, both took on each other last Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Bantamweight ‘Winner Takes All’ Tournament Final in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Though Mares won the bout via unanimous points’ decision, it was considered by many as a foul-fest, as the referee Russell Mora was seen ignoring numerous low blows Mares delivered to Agbeko.
However, now when the International Boxing Federation has ordered an immediate rematch between both fighters within the next 120 days or by December 4, 2011, Don King wants the State of Nevada to investigate the matter.
King told the media in Nevada that many of boxing’s biggest matches have been held and the state has a pretty good image as far as the sport is concerned but on the same note he said what happened last Saturday has destroyed everything.
King added the image Nevada state has for boxing, has been brought by many exceptional past members and when he sees somebody destroying it, he gets hurt.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “It was a triple-blow against boxing by hurting fighters, discrediting world championship boxing and the great state of Nevada, where so many of boxing’s most memorable bouts have been staged. This has caused an
undeserved negative shadow over Nevada. There should be an investigation to clear any and all doubts as to what occurred in this fight. The people deserve to know more about whatever caused this man to do what he did.”
He added, They established an impeccable reputation, and to see the house they built being tarnished brings me great sadness.”
Abner Mares currently has Agbeko’s IBF title but let us see whether this time the Ghanaian warrior, Agbeko, can get his title back from the Mexican or not.
