Don "The Caveman" Robinson SF Giants in the 90's?

How did Don Robinson get the nickname Caveman?

The guy was big, hulking and hairy (according to teammates).  He was also a tough SOB whose body was covered with scars from numerous surgeries to his arm, legs and shoulder.

I can't remember who gave him the name but it was definitely one of respect for his toughness  more than making fun of his looks.
