Question:

Don you think that talk of Prince Charles NOT becoming King is ridiculous?

Realistically, the only way that Prince Charles will not become King is if is mother outlives him. Now, that is not such a crazy idea as Elizabeth could live on for decades, but apart from that possibility, Charles will be King. Queen Elizabeth II would never try and have her son skipped over for the throne, and indeed, I don't think that can be done. Charles has a birthright to the throne. I'm not sure what he could do (short of high treason or herresy for something like that) to warrant being passed over.

The only other realistic possibility would be if Charles were very old and incapacitated at the time of Elizabeth's death. If Charles were to have suffered from severe mental deterioration, then maybe he would be passed over.

Otherwise, get ready for King Charles III. It would probably not be a long reign, but I'm sure it will be great.

What do you think?

  1. Yes it's ridiculous.

He is not only the proper heir to the throne,

but he'd make as good a King as anyone

else. His whole life has been spent being

    groomed for the job.

  2. I think all that kind of talk is ridiculous.   No one can tell what will happen in the future.  Too many things can happen between now and then.  He may be King.  He may never be King.  Frankly I don't care.  I think he does a good job with his Charity work and has helped a lot of young people get their start in life.

  3. I agree with you.  it always amuses me when people say 'I'll never accept Camilla as queen' as if that's going to reach the ears of the people at Buckingham palace and cause them to suddenly hold a family meeting to discuss the implications of Ed who runs the butchers in the High Street's decison to never accept Camilla as Queen.

I think he seems much happier now than he ever was with Diana, and I think also he was born to be King, it is his birthright whether people agree or not, he's been well trained for the position and also despite the jokes about his ears and his looks in general, he has done a lot of good, The Princes trust for one thing has been a tremendous success and given many young people opportunities they would never had had otherwise.

I can't ever see Charles being 'passed over' in favour of William, neither can I see the Queen abdicating, I think she takes her role seriously and aims to do it for as long as she is able.

He might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think Charles has some very good qualities and now that he's much more settled in his domestic life I think it's all for the good

  4. Get ready for Charlie!!!!

And so it should be the only thing this country has left is it's traditions, I say keep them and him, he certainly won't be the worst Royal in history that is for sure!!

  5. No I don't think it is ridiculous...he is a bloody shambles....the lot of them are a waste of space....but he is one of the worst...hopefully he'll get dementia b4 long.....ghastly fellow ...can't stand him...

  6. i think it will be rather interesting when he does take the throne. seeing as he will not only be king but also the head of the anglican church. there is some debate over him taking the throne b/c of this. how can an adulterer but the head of the anglican church?? there is alot of discussion among commonwealth countries in relation to this. and charles wife also. murmurings of republicanism reached screaming pitch here in NZ at the time of the wedding.

  7. Yes, I agree. It is ridiculous how some people are very ignorant regarding the rules of the British line of succession. The Queen has no power or authority to declare who is next in line. The British line of succession is regulated by the Act of Settlement 1701. Everyone including the monarch and the British Parliament must obey the law, and only the British Parliament have the power to overrule a law by establishing another one in its place (a monarch cannot pass laws).

Prince Charles of Wales is designated to be the next "King George VII of the United Kingdom." Unless he "by his own free will" decides to abdicate or suddenly passed away, he remains first in line to the British throne.

  8. No not when you consider that Elizabeth became Queen because her uncle couldn't become King for marrying a divorced woman.

We either stick with the rules or just throw all the royals out and not just make it up as we go along.

  9. back when ol big-ears was talking about marrying Camella, there was question of whether he could marry a divorce and still be king. At the time, he said he would step aside so his son could be king.

I never heard any resolution of that; I've assumed it was all sorted out and he's still the heir.

but no, it would probably be a much shorter reign than Lizzy Deucy, and I wouldn't be surprised if she did outlive him (look at how long her mom lived!).

  10. Even if Charles did suffer from severe mental retardation he would not be "passed over", he would become King, whilst William would be Prince Regent. The same as would happen for Charles if his Mother was incapacitated.

If Charles outlives his mother he will become King according to the laws of succession, for that to change there would need to be a parliamentary vote in both houses.

  11. Monarchy is an inherited tradition not a popular contest,

leave such for the American idol or White House interned patient

  12. He may abdicate after a short reign, but it's unlikely.

  13. who cares??
