Donald Mabo to receive US$ 1500 from Luanshya Copper Mine for his expenses at training camp in China
Zambia’s talented shuttler, Donald Mabo, is set to attend a training camp in the end of this month at the Guangzhou Badminton Association Centre in China, while Luanshya Copper Mine (LCM) has given him an amount of US$ 1500 to meet his expenses in the camp.
Donald, who is the number two shuttler in the national rankings of Zambia, will also receive all the relevant equipment from LCM, who has already ordered gear for the shuttler. The player will fly to China in the last week of this month. Both, the equipment
and cheque of US$ 1500 will be given to the Badminton Association of Zambia this week.
Badminton in Zamia is gradually gaining popularity, as there is a considerable improvement in the strength of players throughout the country. Sending national shuttlers to training camps like Guangzhou will also elevate the level of the game in the country.
Sydney Chileya, public relations head of LCM, expressed that the organisation is happy for their association with the young shuttler, Donald. Chileya said, “As a corporate entity, when we spot people who are talented and need help, especially those from
the so-called minor sports like badminton, we always try and assist them by sponsoring them in every way possible.”
While talking about the sponsorship given by LCM, Donald said, “The sponsorship is going to benefit me in terms of skill. I think we can bring honour and glory to the county. I would like to thank Luanshya Copper Mine for their support.”
The top seed of Zambia, Eli Mambwe is currently training in Netherlands, whereas, the third seed, Juma Muwowo is also working hard in training sessions in Scotland. Now, the second seed, Donald will also start training in China to perform well in future
for his country.
Before leaving for China, Donald will participate in the home event of Zambia Open. This timely sponsorship will enhance Donald’s chances to demonstrate better badminton in the All Africa Games and also at the 2012 London Olympics.
