Donald “Reche” Caldwell arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and marijuana possession
Former wide-receiver in the National Football League (NFL) Donald “Reche” Caldwell was pulled over, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana in Tampa, Florida.
It was reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office that he was pulled over early Thursday morning after a police officer ran Caldwell’s pickup truck’s license plates through the central computer and found that the vehicle’s owner had a suspended
license.
The deputy officer then pulled over Caldwell’s vehicle and then had it impounded. The officer also reported that they had found a small plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana next to the driver’s seat.
Caldwell was then charged, booked into Hillsborough County Jail without incident and released on $750 bail later on Tuesday morning.
Caldwell was drafted in the second round, overall pick number 48, of the 2002 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida by the San Diego Chargers. He played for the Chargers from 2002 to 2005; a total of four seasons.
In his first year with the Chargers, Caldwell had 22 receptions for 208 yards and three touchdowns. He also had nine kickoff returns for a total of 220 yards. In 2003, his second season in the NFL, Caldwell started in four of the nine games that he played
in and had eight receptions for 80 yards and ran five times for 39 yards.
In 2004, Caldwell had three touchdown catches in their first five games but in the Chargers’ sixth, against the Atlanta Falcons, Caldwell tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) which prematurely ended his 2004 season. He started all six of the games that
he played in during the 2004 season and ended with 18 receptions for 310 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran four times for 45 yards and fumbled once.
Although he came back to start in two of the 16 games that he played in during the 2005 season, the Chargers released him at the end of the season. He finished his career with the Chargers with 76 receptions for 950 yards and seven touchdowns.
He was then signed by the New England Patriots where he started in 14 of the 16 games that he played and recorded 61 receptions for 760 yards and four touchdowns. But the Patriots released him as well, ending his career with the Washington Redskins in 2007,
where he started in only one game and had 15 receptions for 141 yards and no touchdowns.
