Donald Trump decides to go against the wind
It is not amazing to see the extent billionaires like Donald Trump can go to rescue their projects.
Real estate tycoon’s golf course project, initiated in Scotland last April, is currently under the cloud of suspicion.
Termed as one of the best golf courses in the world, ground work for the project began in 2010, but since then the multi-billion venture is constantly under threats from various sources.
Out of all others, the most dominant is from the environmental front. Renewable energy supplier, Vattenfall has jumped in the issue with plans of constructing 11 giant wind turbines.
The problem is that these turbines will be built just 2 kilometres away from the site of Trump’s lavish golf course.
As expected, Trump has reacted furiously on the issue. Furious enough to donate 10 million pounds to lobbies working to curtail the construction of these turbines.
However, there is another interesting aspect of the ongoing cold war. All these efforts to shatter Trump’s dreams of forming the golf course are being backed by the Scottish government minister Alex Salmond.
The politician, who is the member of Member of Scottish Parliament (MSP) is not completely against Trump’s golf course venture.
According to him, it will tap new frontiers of economic generation for the local population.
Nevertheless, the idea regarding the formation of wind turbines still needs to float on the Assembly floor before any decision can be finalised.
So far, Salmond’s official has refrained to comment on the situation, but Trump believes that Scottish government holds sympathetic view of his plans.
In a statement that was issued by the Ministry, it was written:
"An application for consent for the European Offshore Wind Deployment Canter was submitted to Marine Scotland on 2 August 2011 and is still under consideration. We have a target of determining applications in nine months from receipt and we are currently
considering the views of consultees, interested parties, and the public".
On the other hand, Trump will come strong in case of rejection or unnecessary delay.
According to George Sorial, Trump’s attorney, Scottish authorities have not kept the promise they made back in 2006.
He further said that they were repeatedly reminded and confirmed that the construction of turbines will not hamper the project on the whole.
