Donald Trump opens his new golf course in Scotland
The US millionaire business tycoon, Donald Trump opened his new golf course in Scotland. Trump has a further plan of making a hotel and a house on the estate. His plans have been put on hold for now, as he is waiting for a decision of a proposed windfarm
off the coast of his estate.
Trump seemed quite sure that the proposal for the windfarm will be rejected and he will be able to continue with the extension of the resort.
He said, “As soon as we find out that they are not going to destroy Scotland by building windmills all over the place we will start immediately on the hotel. We're all set with it. I don't think the windfarm will happen because it will be the destruction
of Aberdeen and the destruction of Scotland ultimately”.
“People are seeing that all over the world windfarms are being abandoned, so I can't imagine that they will put up these ridiculous monsters that don't make economic sense and destroy the environment,” he added.
Previously, this course was labeled to be controversial. Trump has faced opposition from the locals, environmentalists, wind farm manufacturers and the Scottish First Minister since he bought the land.
Trump bought the land in Aberdeen shire seven years ago and ever since there has been a problem for him. Nonetheless, he tackled all the problems and finally succeeded in making the golf course.
Trump inaugurated his golf course by striking the ball himself. He said that all the trouble he went through to make this course was worth it.
After cutting the red ribbon on the first hole, he teed off with the former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie and played the first nine holes with the Chief Executive of the European Tour, George O'Grady and the Chief Executive of UK PGA, Sandy Jones.
Trump called this the best golf course in the world. He was pleased that the course is playing great. He was also happy to see that the weather is perfect to play golf.
The millionaire talked about Colin Montgomerie as well. He was of the opinion that, “Colin loves the course and he's playing really well, he's a great player and a great guy”.
