Donald Trump plans to invest more money in Doral Golf Course
The Blue Monster course had the Doral Publix Junior Classic underway when a helicopter landed on its ninth fairway. The crowd and the players, captivated by the sight, waited in anticipation
to see who comes out of the chopper.
As the helicopter landed, everybody recognised the familiar name on its tail: Donald Trump.
Players had already finished the 9th hole when Trump’s helicopter landed. The area was vacated and people were told to keep a safe distance.
After Trump purchased the Doral Golf Resort & Spa, the name of the resort has been changed to Trump National Doral.
Trump now owns thirteen golf courses and is planning to change the outlook of the Doral courses.
There was a heavy price tag attached to the course when the billionaire bought it.
Although Trump bought it for approximately $150 million, after the renovation of the course, its price is likely to go as high as $200 million.
Charlie DeLucca, who is the person behind the Doral Junior Classic, makes sure that the biggest amateur tournament of the season takes place smoothly. The tournament attracts several hundred
golf enthusiasts.
While giving his views on the course, Trump said, "It's a tremendous location, 800 acres right smack in the middle of Miami, and we look to make this one of the great places anywhere in
the world for golf".
"It needs a lot of work. It's a little bit tired, and that's OK. And we're going to do something special".
He continued: "When we have spent the money, and when it's at the highest level of luxury and highest level of golf ... then we are going to make the decision. But it will be in some form
`Doral".
Trump looks determined to put the Doral coarse on the golfing map, although the popularity of the resort is known to the locals, projects have started to take it to the next step.
With his interest in the project, Trump is more likely to give the Doral Resort a separate identity and a completely new feel to the place.
