Donald Young and Ryan Harrison enthralled to play the Heineken Open – Tennis News
America’s most talented upcoming tennis stars, Donald Young and Ryan Harrison, are restless to win the Heineken Open to be played in Auckland, New Zealand, next season. The final field for the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals)
World Tour 250 event has been announced, with the defending champion David Ferrer of Spain leading the line-up.
American tennis has been toiling for years to find out the next tennis sensation that can carry on the legacy of sport in region and with the lights of Young and Harrison, it seems as if the talent hunt has finally been fruitful.
The two youngsters are believed to be the future of the American tennis and their eagerness to surge to the top of the tennis world is foreseen by many.
22-year-old Young took off the 2011 season as the 127th ranked player in the ATP world rankings and he has finished the season at number 39 with 19-17 winning record. His early career was stalled by persistent injuries
but the American is now at top of his game, riding his career best ranking of number 39.
Despite of winning four Junior Grand Slam titles, Young is yet to bag his maiden ATP championship title and he is very keen to bag one at the next year’s Heineken Open in January. His inclusion to the exciting field at Auckland
was welcomed by the organisers, hoping that the 22-year-old will show some wonders with his racquet to take off the 2012 season. Harrison has been awarded a wildcard entry to be a part of the ATP World Tour 250 event and the new faces in the field have made
the tournament more excited.
“He's a character and you won't die wondering what he's feeling on court so he will provide some entertainment, some fire,” tournament director Richard Palmer said of Harrison. “If he hits his straps, who knows how far he can go
in that draw?”
The tournament Marketing Manager, Luke Rive, is also very excited to get the action going at the Heineken Open, stating: “With two in the top 10 and some great depth we will again have a fantastic main draw. We are really looking
forward to kicking off the new year with another high energy Heineken Open.”
The Heineken Open will take off from 9th to the 14th of January next season and is considered to be an important stop before the year’s first Grand Slam event, the Australian Open.
