  1. I agree with my16paws but have heard of some charities that will provide a receipt for clothing donations based, I think, on weight. (have not done so myself).  A couple of possibilities are Diabetes and Parkinsons, both of which run clothing pickups in our area.  Would be interested in knowing if this is true.

  2. Once again, ignore the US answers, which may or may not be accurate.

my16paws is correct, Sally Ann does not issue tax reciepts for clothing donations.  That would require an accurate evaluation of each piece at the time of drop off, something they have no time or staff for.

  3. better to give to your local church charity its deductable and can give you a receipt like they are laws  to do.

I go to garage sales for my donations picking only the best and give as little as I can for bunches of pieces and found the last of the they sell their old gals clothes left after they breakup

and hand over some good stuff like club clothes high end

  4. IRS has a standard table that has acceptable deduction amounts. Tax software programs often have the same.

  5. Good Will and Salvation Army do not give tax receipts for donations of cloths.  If you want sell the closths at a 2nd hand store and then donate the proceeds the charity.  Unless of course you were tring to find a way to make a profit from your charitable donations.
