Donating plasma safe?

Im kinda short on cash and I heard donating plasma can earn you $30 or so? How safe is the process and how long does it take?

  1. It's very safe.  Only sterile equipment and technique to used to remove and process your blood.  During the process, some of your blood is removed via a needle and a collection bag.  The bag is then centrifuged and the red cells are returned to you.  Basically, the only thing you lose is some fluid and a little protein.  I don't think the process takes more than about an hour.  Once the needle is inserted into your arm, it won't hurt anymore while it stays in.


  2. My boyfriend did it a couple times and the process is safe, however it can take up some time.

    When my boyfriend first did it he had to be at the clinic at 7 am and be one of the first 15 people in line. If you are not one of those first 15 then you get turned away. Then whatever order you were in line is the order you get your plasma drawn...which some of the "veterans" will try to cut in line, etc.
