Question:

Donating to Christian Childrens Fund?

I clicked to sponsor a child then clicked the "once month now" option.

I was only trying to make a one time donation and I can't figure out if I am now sponsoring this child every month with $24 or if I actually did what I wanted to do?! Only answer if you have done this before, work there, or have experience with this.

I already emailed the site about it. I am just freaking out because I cannot support a child with this monthly fee and I just wanted a one time gift...

Thank you!

  1. If they do not respond, you can simply check your bank statement and, if they charge you next month, contact your bank and complete an unautorized debt form. They are obligated to return your money and the company will be notified that you don't want to donate regularly. In the future, I would suggest that you make donations to charities that don't have overheads...so that all of your 24 dollars can go to the people in need, instead of part of it going to fundraising and CEO salaries. A great one is nothingbutnets.net. Take care!

  2. You might have a better response if you talk to someone in the staff. Start with accounting/billing. Then go up the ladder. You wouldn't think a Charity would have a problem seeing the mistake and making it right. If worse comes to worse you could talk to your bank and have them block funds going to this organization. Not sure if they charge a fee but until you get it worked out, it may be worth it. Good Luck.

  3. The site uses multiple donation buttons.

Sponsor a child shows a picture of the child and emphasizes that it's a long term commitment of 80 cents a day.

Make a Donation shows a generic picture and asks which program you are funding.  Eg, "Children's Greatest Needs" "Memorial donation" etc.  You really can't mix them up.

  4. try going to the website and ask for a child
