Racing Post Trophy is a high profile Group 1 event that every horse wants to win. As expected, this season’s edition of the Class 1 meeting has attracted plenty of big names.

The Richard Hannon-trained has been showing immense class since the start of his career. The 2-year-old made his debut on a winning note, when sealing a comprehensive 3¼-length win at Glorious Goodwood.
Owned by Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, the juvenile faced an unlucky loss at Royal Ascot in June, but quickly put his journey back on the winning ways.
He won a Group 2 meeting at Newmarket to make a solid impression. Not resting on his laurels, he added another graded success to his tally at Goodwood at the start of August.
The son of Choisir recorded his sole Group 1 win at Longchamp, where he beat What A Name by one and a quarter lengths in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Grand Criterium) (Group 1) (2yo Colts & Fillies) (Turf) (Sponsors Al Emadi).
Having opened his account at the highest level, the Denis McDonnell-bred colt is brimming with confidence, aiming to accomplish the feat at Doncaster.
Aidan O’Brien also has a strong hand. His biggest hope is Battle Of Marengo, who has a graded success under his belt. It is going to be his first appearance at the top level, but nothing can be taken away from the big fellow.
Steeler is also one of the leading contenders. Dawn Approach and Mars initially entered the race, but quickly stepped back because of other engagements.
Following Camelot's superb win in this mega meeting, the standards have gone really up. It is surely a lot to ask of any horse, but there are some potential candidates in this season’s line-up. With so many giants locking horns, an intense battle is on the
cards.
