Dong Keun Lee beats James Eunson to surge into third round of New Zealand Badminton Open
Korea’s upcoming player Dong Keun Lee continued his winning streak and reached into Men’s Singles third round after defeating his local opponent James Eunson in second round clash at SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open 2013 at Auckland, on Thursday, April 11.
The un-seeded Dong Keun, who has been putting up good show for the last few months, played to his maximum potential in the second round of the championship and easily overpowered Eunson in a dominating fashion in just 23 minutes.
Korean shuttler did not show any mercy to his local challenger at any stage in the whole battle. He played with greater level of confidence and remained successful in outplaying Eunson in straight sets with a crushing margin of 21-4 and 21-12.
Then local shuttler failed to respond to his home fans as he could not play positive and aggressive badminton. He committed unforced errors and also remained unable to create pressure on his challenger. He crashed out without making his presence felt.
Dong Keun showed a wonderful aggression on court from the opening points of first set by building a remarkable pressure on his challenger.
The tempo of the rallies was quite fast in opening game and Dong Keun entertained local fans with his impressive craft.
Until the mid-game interval, the lofty Dong Keun was leading the game with a wonderful difference as he did not let his challenger to come close on the score board.
After the one-minute interval, Dong Keun was focused on court and remained successful in keeping a comfortable gap.
The positive and attacking play of Dong Keun helped him to clinch the first game with a spectacular margin of 21-4.
In the second game, Dong Keun played with stunning speed without sparing any room for Eunson to find a good flow.
The well directed smashes and spinning net shots kept Dong Keun ahead of his rival all the way until the end of first half in second game.
The aggressive and positive play in the ending part of second set assisted Dong Keun to grab the set with a superb 21-12 total on the board.
