Donovan McNabb contemplates options after being waived by Minnesota Vikings – NFL News
After being waived off by Minnesota Vikings, the 35-year-old quarterback Donovan McNabb is contemplating his options for future and said on Thursday that he has still not decided anything about his next destination and that all
the 31 teams are ‘preferable’.
"I think the most important thing was for me first and foremost to do what was best for me and my family. And secondly, getting away from things. To get ready for the next chapter in the book. I'm very excited for the opportunity
and ready for the next step," he said in an interview.
Donovan started his professional career in the year 1999 when he was selected by Philadelphia Eagles. He played 11 seasons for Eagles and grabbed plenty of records including Most Career Attempts (4,303), Most Pass Completion (2,534),
Most Passing Yards (29,320), Most Passing Touchdowns (203), Most Single-Season Completions (345, in the 2008 season), Most Single-Season Yards (3,916, in the 2008 season) and Most NFC Championship Appearances.
Eagles traded McNabb to Washington Redskins in the year 2010. After a year, in July 2011, Redskins traded him to Vikings.
This season he has played six games for Vikings. He completed 94 passes of 156 attempts for 1,026 yards. He also has four touchdowns and two interceptions to his credit.
During the week six game against Chicago Bears, McNabb was benched in the fourth quarter, and neither started nor played the rest of the games for Vikings.
Vikings’ coach Leslie Frazier has appreciated McNabb for his professional attitude and said that in spite of not being the starter, the quarterback helped the other players in their learning process.
“He's been a true pro in every sense of the word," the coach said. "He's a class guy. Always has been, and he's done a good job in spite of the fact he wasn't our starting quarterback."
The coach also described McNabb’s waiver as an agreement of mutual understanding. He also said that the decision was in the interest of both the parties. He further said that he has love and affection of McNabb, who has played
so long for the league.
"He was a great player and has been a great player for our league for a long, long time.”
