3)(6x-2y)to the power of 3

4)3x (to the power of 3) +4y (to the power of 3)

5)5x (to the power of 3) +4y (to the power of 3)

thank you for your help and if you do have any tips to work them out easily then please say

  1. for 1 multiply the first term in each bracket together, then multiply the second term in each bracket together then multiply the second term in the first bracket with the first term in the second and finally multiply the first term in the first bracket with the last term in the second and then add it all together

    So (4x * 4x) + (2a * 3b) +(2a * 4x)+(4x * 3b)

    = 16x^2 +6ab + 8ax +12xb

    for 2

    first write out the brackets

    (6x+3y)(6x+3y)(6x+3y)

multiply the first two brackets together as in 1

    36x^2+9y^2+18xy+16xy

    Then add them up

    36x^2 + 8y^2 + 34xy

then multiply each of these terms by the final bracket

    (36x^2 + 8y^2 + 34xy)(6x+3y)

    = (6x+3y)36x^2 + (6x+3y)8y^2  +(6x+3y)34xy

    216x^3 + 108x^2y + 48xy^2 + 24y^3 +24x^2y + 102xy^2

then you need to gather the terms.

  2. nether do i

    i'm confused now.

  3. 1. You multiply each term by every other term and then add like terms together. So, multiply 4x by 4x and also 4x by 3b. Then you multiply 2a by 4x and 2a by 3b. You get 16x squared plus 12bx plus 8ax plus 6ab. There are no like terms, so that's the answer.

    2. Taking this to the power of 3 means multiplying the whole expression 3 times. Write it out 3 times. Multiply the first two terms like you just did in #1. Then multiply that answer by the third term.

    3. Do the same thing as #2, but be careful with your negatives. Remember that a negative times a negative results in a positive.

    4. If the 3x has no parenthesis, then the answer to 3x to the power of three is 3x to the power of 3. If there are parentheses around 3x, then the 3 is also taken to the power of 3, which is 27. etc.

    5. Same as 4

  4. 1. 16x²+12xb+8ax+6ab
