  1. okay so it appears you have some really great ideas for snacks so im not going to get into that. but one thing i recently learned is to get my daughter to eat like she should, is to have absolutley no distactions, tv, games, etc... make a schedule for eating time. same time and place everyday. mix things up. if you have left overs or something, keep it covered and refridgerated for one more night. have something differant everyday and/or try it with a differant meal of the next day. for instance, if you have spaghetti one night for supper, have it for lunch the next day. make sure everyone who lives or eats with you eats at the same time and dont let anyone leave the table untill the baby is done because that will make him not want to eat anymore and do whatever they are doing. i started this last wk actually and it already works like a charm. good luck i hope this helps.

  2. put them in jello, it's sweet and healthy because of the fruit. veggie chips aren't bad and maybe some vegan food will help, it's delicious and healthy.

  3. My son's 15 months too. He loves hot dogs! It was actually one of his first words! LOL! Instead of giving him a corn dog or regular hot dog I buy the extra lean Turkey dogs. he loves them. And I still give him chicken nuggets every once in a while but he actually likes grilled chicken better. You'd be surprised what they'll eat. I'm lucky though because his favorite food is broccoli and veggies.

Try giving him what your eating. And, I don't know if all tots are this way, but my son will hate something one day and love it the next so don't give up just because he won't eat it today.  I let him taste what I'm eating and I've discovered a bunch of things he likes that I would have never thought to give him. Salad, shrimp, oatmeal, avocado, etc. as long as he can chew it.

I've also bought the dole fruit cups and yogurt for snacks. For a snack try cutting up an apple and sprinkle it with a bit of cinnamon. Then microwave it it till it's tender.

    Good Luck & God Bless!

  4. There are a couple good cookbooks that I could suggest for recipes. First, Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious. This book is made for picky eaters and basically teaches you how to 'hide' vegetables in your "yummy" foods. Another good one that I use a lot is the Disney Magic Kitchen Cookbook. In addition to great recipes this one teaches you all kinds of things about healthy eating for kids. www.familyfun.com is a really good website for kids recipes. They even have an e-mail recipe newsletter that will give you all kinds of ideas. They'll show you how to offer the healthy choice to your kids in a fun way. You need to remember that kids don't like change, don't force the foods on him. Start by just putting the new food on his plate so he gets used to seeing it. You need to introduce it over and over and eventually they will try it. In our house sometimes when we're trying to get the kids to try something new, we ask them to take a bite for each year they are old ( 4 year old = 4 bites). Also, when you're offering something new, offer something familiar too. Maybe serve ketchup or dressing for them to dip veggies in. I know it sounds weird, but kids love it. My 4 yr old just ate celery tonight for the first time because she dipped it in marinara sauce. Weird combo, but hey, she ate it right. Hope this helps. Good luck and good job for wanting to get him into a healthy diet while he's young.

  5. Here's what we do with my cousin. He doesn't really eat vegetables all the time and he plays with it, too. If you're eating something he does like, just sneak the vegetables in with it. We just put it on a spoon and put the vegetables behind the other food and my cousin will normally eat it. Let's see, my cousin's 15 months old on the 22nd.

  6. get rid of that c**p food. I am happy to hear you are trying to eat healthier, when he gets hungry enough he will eat the fruits and veggies, give him lots of options to see what he likes and doesn't like. you need to do this asap because the longer he eats c**p the harder it is to break him of it. google up some healthy fun ideas.

  7. I would try fruit smoothies.  You can add some spinach in there and he wouldn't even know it's there.

You can add all sorts of vegetables to spaghetti sauce.

    Try veggies and dip?

Good luck.  My toddler is super picky as well.

  8. Hi!

I don't think it's a problem that he wants to just play with the healthy foods for now.  It's a great way to get him used to eating them, and after the diet you described, it's a big change, so he won't want to eat them straight away!

Why don't you start him off by feeding him potato wedges with a little tomato ketchup? They're like chips, but, if grilled, are healthier!?!
