  1. Depends on what you're looking to do.  If you are looking to work in the Aviation side of the Navy then AO (they also are a very close knit group)  They have some of the highest levels of camaraderiee out of all the Navy ratings, also advancement for AO's is better than in all three of the other ratings you mentioned.  SK (I came in as an SK) can be a good job, it's a lot of work, inventory, lifting, running supplies for the ship or squadron (think warehouse).  QM's handle the ship navigation and semaphore(flags and signaling), BM would be my last choice out of these options, a lot of Navy pride, but a lot of manual labor.  Painting, chipping paint, standing all sorts of watches, but you get to drive the ship.  My recommendation would be AO out of the options you listed, but think about what you want to do in the Navy, before you make a decision.

  2. Our classifiers at MEPS are specially trained to help you make that decision and guarantee you that program. The needs of the Navy are also considered. Meaning what if you picked AO and it's not available ? They will show you the top 3 jobs the navy needs right now based on your qualifications.

  3. Being a storekeeper is a pretty good job. I think you will see a lot of "sea" time. If you want that then it would be great for you!

I'd talk to a recruiter like right now. Get in early on the fiscal year, ya know? The process for joining the military is a long one. You might not even be qualified to join physically. Get your ASVAB and physical done. Then you can see what job are available. The wait list for rates right now is 4-10 months.

  4. I Say Take A Supply Job. I Was A SH When I Was In And It Was Laid Back. Plus u get a $3500 sign-on bonus. well atleast back in 2003 you did

  5. the one that pays the most, or you'll be treated like ...pretty bad.

bigger job, means more comfort, more respect, better food etc.
