Don't scrutinise Yuvraj Singh too much - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623
Gautam Gambhir, the Indian opener who will be standing in his first One Day International as captain on Sunday, has backed the struggling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has ever produced.
"We are just making too much of Yuvraj Singh. We are trying to scrutinise him too much - what he is doing and not doing,” said Gambhir. “Give him some time; let him be what he is. He is such a great player. Be a little lenient on him and
don't try to scrutinise him too much," he added.
The 28-year-old middle-order batsman of India has been under constant scrutiny over the past few months and was recently demoted to the Grade B in the BCCI’s annual contract list following his struggling form but the Indian captain strongly
stood behind the stylish Yuvraj calling him “a quality player.”
Gambhir pleaded with the media to be lenient on the Chandigarh boy as the constant scrutiny and criticism is putting some extra pressure on the stylish batsman who is yet to get back to his silken touch. The Indian opener, who will be leading
the side after regular captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 along with several other senior players have been rested because of injury concerns ahead of next year’s World Cup, said that Yuvraj is a quality player with an experience of a lot of international cricket and the number
of matches he has won for team India is incredible.
"Doubting his abilities is not the right thing. He is the biggest match winner India ever had at his batting position,” said Gambhir. "He already has a half-century to his name in the last ODI (against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 last month) he played and
has done decently in Dambulla as well.”
Gambhir further added that the Punjab batsman needs one big innings to get back to his best. He also praised Yuvraj’s fielding performance.
The 2010 season has so far been quite disappointing for the twenty eight year old middle-order batsman struggling with patchy form and injuries, juniors going past him and the final blow was the pay cut as the Gradation Committee of BCCI
relegated him from Grade A to B last month.
The worst that the Chandigarh batter can expect is being overlooked from the 2011 World Cup squad and Yuvraj, undoubtedly, would not like to miss the mega event that would be hosted by India as well besides http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. So, he must be desperate
to come out of the patchy form and contribute with his famous winning knocks to forward his case in front of the Indian selectors.
