  1. It does seem like the LPGA tour is actually the Asian LPGA most of the time.  Naturally the foreign players are going to want to come here to play, because the money is better.  I do however, believe that anyone who comes to America to work, should be able to speak English and vice versa, if an American goes to work in a foreign country, they should be able to speak the language of that country.  That's why they teach different languages in college and high school in some cases.  It prepares people for their future in the work force.  I've worked in the past with Mexicans who spoke very little english and sometimes when a group of them are talking and laughing, you don't if they're talking about you or what.  By not speaking English it allows people to maybe say things that if they were understood by others, they would not get away with.  Professional people wouldn't act this way, but not everyone is professional, of course.

People need to understand that coming to America is a privilege not a right.

  2. I say that literacy should be necessary to even come to the states, much less become an athlete here. But in all fairness, We aren't being asked to learn korean, japanese, or any other languages. It is all marketing though. If you can say " I used my Nike clubs well today" as opposed to "I play good, win" like i heard one of the Parks say after her victory, you can be more valueable too. It is in the best interest of the player, and the fan. A Win win.

  3. Golf , like any sport, is entertainment - people don't watch/attend tournaments, sponsors don't support events, etc - no one makes money. Skill is required but at that level - being highly skilled is expected - all the players are good. Golf is the ultimate "social sport" even at the pro level . Although we see it on TV and seemed removed from the players personalitities, they are very much involved with the social aspect of the event when they are competing(pro ams, sponsors, etc) . Is English required ? ABSOLUTELY . How would you like to be the chairman of a $ponsoring company , play a pro-am with a gal who may be polite and skilled but can't hold a conversation , give you a tip, laugh at a joke, etc - all the things that golf what is all about and what makes it different from every other sport. If the American tour is being unreasonable about that request, maybe players should find another country to play in.  Guess what ? There is no better place with more prestige and more $ than playing here - if you want all of that , speak the language and "perform" as the entertainer that you are paid to be.

  4. I agree that if a player playing on the LPGA Tour should speak English.  As of now, no one won't be kicked off the tour if they don't speak English.  There have been American players male and female to play on foreign tours.  The Dubai Desert Classic is a European Tour event and Tiger isn't the only American golfer to play in that tournament.  That is just one example.  As far as not watching when American players aren't on the leader board, a true golf fan will watch golf regardless of who's playing.  I love Tiger, but I watched the Barclays' last week and will watch the Deutchebank and all the playoff tournaments as well as the Ryder Cup and so on.  He's not playing in any of those.  It's interesting that the females only have one style of golf competition where they compete against European players as opposed to a competition such as the President's Cup where they take on a world team.  I don't think they'd fair well in such a competition.

  5. The LPGA is going to get sued about this rule and lose.  There is no precedent in sports for this.  Yiao Ming can't speak the greatest english and a couple Japanese MLB  players speak  little or no English.  How come they don't get suspended??

  6. if u ask me playing golf has nothing to do with language. They are pros all they need to do is compete. I only see this as a excuse to favour the white population. The LPGA will lose a lot of there sponsors for this but not my loss
