  1. are you dilated or anything? hmm probably hook you up to see if everything is ok and induce you! i dont know for sure.

  2. Since you'll be full term, they'll want to make sure that the baby is still doing fine.  You can refuse any tests, checks, and monitoring, by the way.  Doctors try to put a timeline on pregnancy and birth, but they really shouldn't.  I would only get the baby checked out to make sure everything was still ok if I didn't feel it kick for a while (during any point in the third trimester) or if I was overdue by a week and a half.

  3. It sounds like a non-stress test - they hook up a monitor on your belly to listen to the heartbeat of the baby, to make sure that the baby is reactive . . . they set up a second monitor on your uterus to detect any contractions.

Not positive that is what they mean . . . but it sounds like it!

Best wishes for a happy & healthy delivery!

  4. They just want to monitor you and your baby to make sure that the baby isn't in distress.

At some point beyond 40 weeks gestation the placenta starts to age and doesn't nourish the baby as well.

There's no set time as to when after 40 weeks that may begin to happen, so they start being more careful after 40 weeks and monitoring things more closely.

  5. i am due the same day as you and i am due tuesday how are you 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant. when are u due?

  6. It's called a Non Stress Test.  It just checks the baby is still "happy" to be in there.

It checks the heartbeat, fetal movement and uterine contractions and essentially ensures they do not let you go too long overdue when the baby could become stressed.  If there is any signs of stress they will book you in for induction.

Hope all goes well for you and not too long to go now.

  7. I am 39w3d, and my doctor told me the same thing today. When I asked why, she said that they would hook me up to the monitor so that they could watch the baby's heartbeat when/if any contractions came. GL!

  8. He is probably talking about monitoring the baby while they induce you

  9. Its a nonstress test. They just check to make sure that there is enough amniotic fluid around the baby. They also will hook you up to fetal monitors and give you a little button to push. every time the baby moves, you will push this button. this will keep track of the baby's heart rate. every time the baby moves, the heart rate should increase. As long as that pattern is followed, the baby is fine. If not, they may induce you and get the baby out.
