  1. Its definitelty 2

Hayden was the key player in the match, his team needed him to carry on batting and make a 100 or near to 100. Hayden is one of the best and most attacking cricketers in the world today, so the team would like Hayden to stay in for as long as possible, because it helps the teams chances of winning the match. If the umpire doesn't see or hear and edge then it's his own fault, it's the umpires job to hear and see the wickets, so if the umpire doesn't see it then Hayden had every right to stay and bat.

It could also have been 1

  2. 1,2

  3. 1..since his previous T20 highest score was 73  2.. since the team wanted him to stay longer in the crease as the situation demanded ...  would be my answer..

  4. he handed over his luck to the umpires hand

  5. waited 4 umpire descision....after all T20 is batsman paradise

  6. He would have walked away if he were run out!!!

Apart from that, I think any or more of 1-5 could have been the reason.  Only he knows best!

  7. He knew that a person is standing 22 yards away from him, paid to do his job (the umpire)... Hayden simply allowed him to do his job !

  8. 1,4 for sure !

  9. 3 but 6 clocking the dockets for retirement

  10. It's quite normal to not walk straight away if it was a minor snick when the umpire might not have noticed. However, Australians are not really known for their honesty are they (recent Ind v Aus series - need I say more) ans so am not surprised the Hayden didn't walk and doubt he would have if it was a bigger snick unless the umpire signalled it. I think it's more to do with 1 and 3, personal score and ego, rather than wanting the best for the team. He is a quality player and can devastate teams but have lost a lot of respect for him (and many Aussie players [player like Brett Lee are still okay]) after the recent series.

  11. I think the way these matches depend upon these batsmen, let them leave the decision to the Umpires. Some are wrong too.

Like the lbw given to Ponting in Kolkata.

I missed the incident.  His ego would have got a boost from the spectators and India had he walked. No one wants to be out, that too when a win depends upon his score. It may be just a selfish reason too. I think I am confused with the 'ego'  part.

And only he knows the reason why. Well, he did get to be the MOM.

  12. i feel 1,3 and 4.......nice question

  13. How wuld i knw, u just watch IPL matches on http://www.alltimetv.com

  14. may be 1st and 3rd

  15. Some times players walk some times they don't. Walking is a risky thing so I guess his reason would be number 2. You can't expect players to give up their wickets. You got listen to the umpire and as they say in football, "Play to the whistle"

  16. ego n ego only

  17. I wud definitely say the 3rd one

  18. 1 and 3 and 5 may be...

  19. Can I choose my own reasoning:

    1. He was within the rules of the game

    2. He wanted to keep going as the team needs him

    Ethical reasoning:

    1. Hayden is not Gilchrist, just to walk away when he snicked it

    2. Sporting and spirit of the game, one needs to walk away even when Umpire does not give

The reason to introduce appeal and refer the matter to 3rd ump.
