  1. Well sweetie the English language will not be terminated by the hun, babe, and sweetie answers but by those that look like this:

"Cn u like hlp me, coz my bf is goin 2 leave me 4 othr grl"

  2. Hunnie, you need to move into the twenty first century.

  3. I think it's computer talk...I would never of thought to say these enderaments in life but after been on the pc I use them and find I do now in my world too ! although I do draw the line with using "hun" !!

  4. I lived in the southern United States most of my life and can tell you that we used those terms in only a friendly manner. We used "hon, sweetie, etc" as greetings. For instance, at a grocery store, usually the cashier or even myself would say "Thank you hon." It was just a pleasantry. I miss it up here.  I say thank you hon to folks here and they smile... nobody has ever been insulted by it that I know of. However, I would not say Babe to anybody except my partner. The world needs a bit more of it.

  5. its disgusting..I have to phone sales women for part of my job, and I hate it when then use those "lovey" names with someone they dont know...and always point it out to them.

  6. h**l yes, hun or darlin' is just really irritating when they don't even know you

    p.s

Idiot: Sick, bruv, safe, i'm good, that's g*y

Mr.English language: Oh my God i'm sinking!! Aghhh, the pain!!

    Die, hun, die x(

  7. The English language has disappeared -- and when people say things like Hun, Sweetie, Babe and the such, they are being condescending.  I find it very irritating.

  8. Yes definitely, these people don't know you yet they call you babe and sweetie. How annoying!

  9. No i don't. I appreciate the fact that people have bothered to take the time to answer the question asked. So what if their spelling isn't always what it should be, maybe the language isn't their mother tongue and so what if someone starts their response with 'sweetie' or 'babe' these things are all trivial and i for one have better things to think about, and i guess trying to be a perfectionist isn't on the list.

  10. sweetie, everyone does t.

  11. It is quite annoying, since I believe that those words should be used for your close friends and family and not random people on yahoo answers.

  12. well hun time has moved on

darling the english language is beging to improve

    babe, calm down

lol i just felt like doing that to annoy you lol it annoys me as well

  13. I hate being called 'sweetie'. It's so patronising!

Edit: What's with the thumbs down? They asked for my opinion so I gave it!

  14. yes, it's annoying.

i don't want to be a stranger's "babe" or "sweetie".

  15. No darlin'.  I am a Texan and that's how I talk.  It's a term of endearment, that's all.  I don't mean it rude.

Pardon me if I came off wrong.  Guess it all depends on where you live and your age.

  16. Yes i hate that so much. Many of my friends call me sweetie it annoys me loads!!!!!!

  17. Babe the English language has disappeared.

  18. I love it.   I think it is so sweet.   I want to be Hun   sweetie   and babe.

    harmless banter

    terms of endearment

    nice to be nice

I don`t find it patronising in the least.

I call folk doll or chooks or sweetakins

petal pet lamb hinnie  hen mate etc.

  19. Yes, it makes me feel like I'm living in a diner. What's worse is when it happens in a work environment. The intention is good, but the reality is messed up. Sort of like wearing blue jeans to court. I am an English Major and one of the things I get to do with my degree is to go around and correct grammar. The thing is, English is a "living"language and changes a lot.I think the problem with using the"familiarties" is a separate issue from the language. It's much more a matter of knowing what is appropriate and what is not. Moth

  20. Its in correct to use such words A perfect writer will never use these adjectives Good english or the Queen's English is fast disappearing I totally agree over taken by slang and what not

  21. I once witnessed a twenty-something cashier call a stately sixty-something lady "honey"--The older lady said, "HONEY???  Are you talking to ME?"   If only more people would respond with outrage, perhaps the practice would diminish.

  22. F*ck me sideways,what's wrong with babe!?

English is the worlds most bastardis*d language, and will always change.

  23. Oh my goodness - it's so tempting to begin with Honey or Sweetie - but I'll refraign out of manners.

    Bottom line, It's you.

The English Language is a uniquely adaptive form of communication. It is not dead - it merely evolves into another form of itself. Examples of this are the myriad of lexicons (the use of a language as it pertains to a line of work or profession) such as "legalese" or an auctioneer's "chant."

Yes, it's sad that proper grammar is quickly becoming arcane - but that can be a good thing as well. It's all in how you look at it.

  24. Get over it, cheesy peeps, would you rather they called you something else?

The english lanuage is very much alive its just people prefer to use slang nowadays ( and curse )

  25. Unfortunately, it really is.

Especially considering so many teenager's refusing to use proper grammar and spelling online,

which I honestly find demoralizing considering I'm 13 and have to watch all of these kids years older than me make fools out of themselves.

Honestly, how difficult is it to type out "you" and "are"?

    - sigh -

  26. I don't mind it but if they don't know the person then they shouldn't say that. Imagine a 13 year old girl saying "babe" to a 48 year old male body builder, with a ghastly odour...It wouldn't sound right would it. Imagine a girl saying to a girl or a boy saying to a boy babe! Lol! It just wouldn't be right!

  27. Well sweetie babe it's better than being called a prick hun.

  28. Well Hun, your lookin on YA, whaddya aspect?

Honestly, no, I don't have a problem with it. That's just the way that some people talk.. Why would they change it just cause you don't like it?

  29. I wouldnt say that the english language is beginning to dissapear...but i would say we are using a lot,ore slang. I dont mind when ppl start with hun sweetie or babe though.

  30. I think people who start sentences with such words are almost trying to belittle the asker.  It is patronizing i think.  As far as the English language it has lost all of it's grace.
