All the questions on here about improving the environment,,,where i work is a tributary which runs into the river aire,,,it daily is filled with plastic bottles and all sorts of wood and other rubbish thrown in by allegedly "caring"human beings,,

then we have weekly town councils and schools even releasing a million balloons into the stratosphere to come down in the sea and kill dolphins and any other wild life which may swallow them,,,not to mention the royal family being a party to this as well,i find this hypocrosy a little hard to take,,,dont you?

  1. I would like to follow one of the cars home that has a  " STOP LOGGING " bumper sticker and see if they live in a grass hut and wipe there a#$ with a cotton ball. I don't support clear cutting logging. but proper logging practices are actually healthy for the forest.

  2. I like the environmentalists are doing something to help the world; but I don't believe it will eventually change anything too significant.

  3. NO... I don't!

Global Warming MEANS "World Wide Warming!" It is ONLY A Political Term = NOT based in Real Science!

The EARTH is covered by "Three Quarters WATER!" Basic Science, it takes ONE-Btu to raise One Cubic Centimeter ONE Degree Centigrade!

HOW many "Gazillion Cubic Centimeters are there ONLY on the Surface of Planet Earth COVERED by 3/4 Water?"

HOW many Btu's would it take TO RAISE THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE ONE DEGREE?

    DO THE MATH!

And, were are the Million TEMPERATURE MEASURING SITES on the Many Oceans THAT TELL US THAT THE OCEAN TEMPERATURES ARE RISING? Not!

Oh yes, POLAR temperatures have varied LESS Than one degree in the past 100-Years. Noticed I said VARIED, = NOT RISEN!

    Thanks, RR

The theory of man-made global warming is false. Anyone who believes otherwise has not investigated the evidence or is purposely remaining ignorant to the legitimate opposition to global warming. I have given up an one and a half hours to watch “An Inconvenient Truth” so I ask you to do the same and watch the movie detailing the opposition.

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...

    Another general resource: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/global_warm...

CO2 is not causing the globe to warm the opposite is true, the warming is increasing the atmospheric CO2. When the world heats it gradually increases the temperature of the oceans which serve as the largest CO2 sink. As the oceans heat up they release CO2 which is stored in them. The information comes from the same data Al Gore uses, the temperature always goes up before the concentration of CO2 goes up.

    http://www.lavoisier.com.au/papers/artic...

CO2 makes up only .03% of our atmosphere. Water vapor, another greenhouse gas, makes up 1-4% of our atmosphere, this gas is acknowledged to be the main greenhouse gas. All human activities combined contribute only 6 Gigatons of CO2 to the atmosphere each year. Animals, through respiration, decomposition, etc contribute 150 Gigatons of CO2 to the atmosphere. So humans contribute only a small amount of CO2 to the atmosphere which is already in very small concentrations in the atmosphere.

http://oco.jpl.nasa.gov/science.html... This is where my data came from, it is an interesting site, it displays the same graphics as Al Gore in his movie but it tells how low the human contribution is. So Al Gore is using the same data but coming to a different conclusion, who do you want to believe a politician with no scientific training or the NASA CO2 laboratory, a group of scientists who spend their entire careers studying CO2.

We know the greenhouse effect is real it is a necessary effect to keep our planet at a habitable temperature. However if our current warming is due to greenhouse gasses it would cause warming in the troposphere , but the troposphere is actually getting cooler.

http://wwwghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/temperature... That points to other explanations to our current warming.

So what is causing our current warming, it is the sun.

    http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/06...

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200...

    http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2003/...

The fact that only the earth’s surface is warming points to direct heating from the sun rather than heating due to greenhouse gasses. Also other planets in our solar system are warming pointing to a common cause of warming, that common cause being the sun.

The global warming crowd says our glaciers are melting and animals will suffer this is another false claim.

  4. yes slow cooked with plenty of BBQ sauce

  5. Hmm not sure

    Different opinions!

    -x-

  6. um... duh....

    everyone does!

But here's something you don't know.

    I'm one myself!!!

  7. lol a minute on YA is a minute wasted

so youd think there'd be no greens on YA wouldnt you

  8. Yes I couldn't agree more!

  9. yep,pants aint it

  10. i believe i took a huge t**d, i mean diarrhea!!!, on one once. it felt pretty d**n good

  11. I believe most of these "bad acts" are done out of ignorance. I also believe it is up to those of us who know the harm that it does to speak out.

When I saw the waste at my sons high school picnic, I took action. The excessive packaging, styrofoam plates, no recycle bins for the water bottles provided. I asked a few questions found out which student organization organized the event, asked their staff advisor if I could speak with them and I went to their next meeting. I presented them with a list of ideas to make their next event more eco friendly and the costs associated with the changes as well as contacts for the vendors to supply the items.

You don't have to get that involved, but a simple letter or email to the organization who released the balloons explaining the damage would likely result in them finding another way to symbolize their event. I always try to find a few suggestions for alternatives for them.

It's harder to change individual behavior, but in my area we have organizations that regularly clean garbage from water ways. If I see someone toss a plastic bottle or can or wrapper I'll often pick it up and say something like, oh let me take care of that for you. It makes people aware and is usually embarassing to them, which hopefully will get them to rethink the next time they are tempted.

  12. Your question assumes that the caring people who want to help the environment are the ones doing these things. Faulty logic. Try again with a clear head.

  13. da! environmentalists mindlessly do my bidding!

  14. I've tried in schools to have a recycling for plastic bottles, but kids throw anything in the container so it is discontinued; if we can educate people before its too late

  15. i dont love them, they are the reason on why diesel has so much tax!

  16. It is very true. I have never taken part in such an event but I had never thought about that.

Something I have thought about though is the carbon footprint of the Queen of England. It must be gigantic!

  17. Heheh ... yes!

  18. i dont knowww.

  19. Tree huggers are sucks. Most of them hypocrites, just take AGW as example. Most of the humans are hypocrites unfortunately (I’ve got your point). Environmentalists are not the answer for the cleaner environment. They are just fanatics. People just have to have working brains and common sense to do what good for environment and them selves (which luck of in environmentalists and tree huggers).

  20. YEA of course why not? I mean, I really believe in making a the earth a better place to live in and keeping animals and people safe from bacteria's and fungi. But some of the people in this world just don't care for taking care of themselves or the places around them. And that is just sad! I am starting my own little club where we earn money to send into the company's of abused and abbandoned animals. The money will pay for their shots, medicine, and shelter, and food. <3 Sophie!

  21. I think one of the problems between Environmentalist and the general public is one of communication. As one who Loves the Earth as well - I have noticed that environmental groups are forced to take a position that some how does not include concern for Human beings as well. In society today -instead of looking for the common ground for our cause we tend to take an opposing view -which is kind of like driving with the breaks on. The general public needs to know and experience -first that Humans are also apart of this world and the ecology  -and second - the first hand benefits of living in a Greener world -where natural resources are cleaner and cheaper. All animals and Humans have the right to care about themselves - but if the situation (concern for our natural world) is set in an opposing competitive environment the goal is lost .

  22. The majority of true environmentalists are active and concerned about the state of the earth.  Sorry if the rest of the world doesn't have a clue.  How do you know "environmentalists" are the supposed culprits littering and emitting toxins into the air and water?  Wow you see a bottle and of course it has to be them.  What are you a forensic scientist?  What does a school releasing balloons have to do with environmentalists?  They are just a bunch of snotty nosed children releasing balloons.  What you think those kids went to the store and bought a bunch of balloons and filled them with helium?  If this hypocrisy irks you so much then go to the school board and talk to them about it.  While you are at it please learn how to spell correctly because DON'T YOU JUST LOVE ILLITERATE COPS?!

  23. Blaming well meaning environmentalists for the trash in the river without any supporting evidence that they had anything to do with it is certianly not hypocracy.

However all too often people who are caring but not too well informed must get on a soap box and are often extremists thus give others a bad name.

  24. Yes, environmentalists help in improving environment. If people (adults and children) are aware and properly educated then they dont spoil the environment, instead they will help to protect the environment. Only uneducated and ignorant people do such activities.

Bring awareness among the people to save our environment.

    Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!

  25. To many of us silly naked apes think that 'environmentalism' means doing something, when its really more important to think about what we DON'T do.  Instead of trying to do things to 'save' the world, all we have to do is stop destroying it.

Nature doesn't need our help, it just needs us to stop monkeying with it.

p.s. - of course we are part of nature and I for one think that things would be better if we could think more along those lines instead of thinking that we are somehow above nature and we need to either exploit it or help it - neither is true.

  26. I know how you feel, but keep your p****r up, not all "environmentalists" are hypocrites.  One day we learn something we are doing is right, the next day it's wrong.  It is a tightrope we all have to balance on, in order to live and let live.

  27. People who are truly "Environmentalists" don't do the things you are describing.

I for one would never buy much less release a baloon, nor would I litter.  Anyone who does the things you have described can never truly be called an environmentalist. If they are calling themselves that, they are lying , and they are in denial.

  28. How do you know the caring people are the ones discarding the trash? It would seem to me they're the ones who don't care, or they wouldn't be doing that. Your 'reasoning' is specious.

You're right about balloons, they can be a hazard, but they don't make it to the stratosphere. Nowadays they usually use biodegradable ones.

As for the hypocrisy, I suggest you learn how to spell it.

  29. See what hits of helium can do?

I knew a farmer that approached a car dealership and said your balloons are choking my chickens.......

The dealer laughed and said, cmon, you're 40 miles away from my dealership.......How so?

The farmer pulled out a dead chicken and a balloon.

The proof was that the dealership had their logo on the balloon.

  30. The best one is out in California where one environmentalist group fought to have a windmill farm built to generate electricity and a few weeks later, another group had them stopped because birds were flying into the blades.

Now they have built windmills not doing anything.  Don't know if it was ever resolved.
