  1. yes..instead of using plastic we should use clothes bag or paper bag which can be recycle

  2. No.

Paper bags takes more energy to produce and weighs a lot more which means they cost more energy to transport. Meanwhile plastic bags are constantly being developed to be more environmental-friendly and biodegradable. I have shopped in several places already which use bags that leave nothing behind but water when they burn.

So, plastic bags may be destroying the planet, but if we all switched to paper then we would still be destroying the planet. Better to go with the better option, which just happens to be the convenient option as well, and just further research and modify our current plastic bags.

If you want to change the world of plastic bags, lobby for laws that forces stores to only sell the biodegradable variants.

  3. Certainly!  But what I don't understand is why nobody saw what was to become of them!  They should never have been made available.  It was a bad idea!

Where were our learned scientists when plastic bags blew on the market...and across my lawn...and up in the trees...

  4. Plastic shopping bags these days a biogegradable, but they are still a big problem, so a plastic drink bottles and plastic packaging on products we all use.  There are more problems with all plastics than just plastic shopping bags.

What are we all going to do about it

  5. The last time I looked, plastic bags were not "...destroying the planet...", they were simply adding to landfill and (anecdotally) being eaten by sundry wildlife.

Oh, by the way, isn't this an Environmental question not a Philosophical one...?

  6. Paper bags, like plastic, are rubbish (pardon the pun) The bags that supermarkets offer for sale, not sure what material are made out of are the way to go..the green bags that you can buy at Coles and Woolies.

Plastic bags though aren't the only thing destroying the planet however...

  7. No one was saying that about five years ago when it wasn't as hip to be environmentally friendly.

And also, major chains have started selling them.

    Just buy them.

  8. For sure. Instead of them selling plastic bags, they should STOP making them. Why cant we have brown paper bags like in america or we should all use the calico bags more.. but for them to encourage people using these, they should be free or cheaper

  9. YEP!!

  10. Yeah I agree but people won't buy the green bags which are reusable. I know one company was thinking about charging 25c per plastic bag as a way to force people into buying the green bags to save money but that got stopped.

People realise this they're just to lazy to do anything. My family get plastic bags but  we reuse them for other things, plus the plastic bags that we get are recycled so it's better for the enviroment than most plastic bags.

  11. I want them gone because they brake easy and they're c**p. Oh that environmental stuff too. : )

  12. The resposibility falls on all of us, the supermarkets, the plastic bag manufactuers and ofcourse, the customers.  But because everyone is too busy with profit and convenience, they don't care about anything else.  But when the **** hits the fan, we'll all care then.

  13. yes i do, but they wont stop using them, because its cheaper to use plastic bags then the environmental bags

  14. well not sure what country your in, but were I live, we hace a choice... paper or plastic. I rarley get plastic.
