Dont you think that the EU is getting out of hand?

It was meant to be a trading pact.....How the heck did it turn into this vassel super state??

I think it needs a serious re-think.

The US is totally out of hand. The EU is an economic union that works to help all members.

The US needs a serious rethink. The EU is working very well .

The confusion about the E.U. is that they haven't finished the work.They haven't written a Constitution.The countries aren't sure how they are going to put things together.Some members are already complaining.Plus you have old rivalries and other paranoia coming into play.So it's to early to say if it's good or bad,when it isn't finished.

If you want you can work all over Europe - but the most people are not willing to leave there country ( or even learn another language)

EU is crumbling because of the different cultures and economic practices in each country not conforming to the rules of the EU.

If you are patient, you don't need to rethink anything because the EU, having exceeded the bounds of what was sensible (trading agreements) already contains the seeds of its own destruction.  The odds were bad enough before it was enlarged.  The enlargement has virtually sealed its fate.  The strains are already becoming apparent and this will only continue.

Note that, like you, the electorates of the member states are finally starting to pay attention to what their politicians have been doing and they don't much like it.  That is why all the member governments are reluctant or downright resistant to holding referendums on direction and membership.  They know what the results will be.
