Dont you wish u would've taken advantage of ur grandparents being alive?

its been quite awhile since my last grandparent passed but now that i'm older ,i have a million and 5 questions and regret i wasnt old enough to get an appreciation of their wisdom and knowledge u know? what was her background?husbands,schooling etc. its so many more...what about u? i now document alot of stuff just to keep around for my kids.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a friend who feels the same way too and she is currently transferring old photos, documents & memories onto her computer and making sorts of Presentations of them, using Powerpoint & other techniques, so that everything will be in order for her to pass on to them. She is even adding her own comments with dates, times & memories too.

Enjoy creating your legacy - I am sure your family will well appreciate it after you have gone.

If we only knew... As kids though, we think we're invincible and assume everyone else is too..

Are your parents still living though?  Or aunts and uncles?  

Talk to them!  They knew your grandparents when they were younger.  They not only lived in the same house with them for many years, but they heard them tell stories of their youth for many years.  I'll bet they have stories that you've either never heard or have forgotten and if  you don't ask, they won't know that you're even interested and they'll probably love talking of old memories.

Your grandparents may even have friends that are still living!  I know my grandmother still has a couple of brothers living - they live way out in the country, but if I want to know what grandma was like as a child, they'd know!  

And... if all else fails, start digging through photos and old papers, letters, etc.  You might be able to piece together more than you think!
