Alistair Darling suggest the British aconomy will be the worst for 60 Years. Wrong, In the late 1930's there was a great man named Winston Churchill and when Britain stood alone against the might of the German army, which had conquered most of Europe, Gave rousing speeches to the British people which rallied them to eventually survive the threat This is what is needed today, not the "we've had it" attitude of Alistair Darling> has the time already come for him to step aside for someone who has a more positive approach?

  1. All i'd say here is people complain every day about the lack of honesty of New Labour politicians - when one is overtly frank they complain. lol.

  2. When he tells the truth he is wrong. If he were to spin it or lie he would be wrong.

I would much rather have a Chancellor who gave us the true facts than one who lied to me. It might not be good news, but is it anything we didn't know anyway?

I am sure he will be positive when he can give positive news rather than just trying to rally the troops so to speak. Why complain that we don't see enough honesty in Politicians and when we get it still complain?

  3. The £ is at its lowest ever against the euro !

Alister Darling is continuing the destruction of the British economy started by Gordon Brown.

  4. From 'ducking and diving' for eleven years this useless government have finally shot themselves in the foot. No amount of spin about telling the truth to the people will get them out of it. Sadly anyone who thinks that this discredited government have got the ability to get us out of this financial hole is kidding themselves.

Strangely enough in 1948 there was also a Labour Government in power.

  5. late 1930's was more than 60 years ago, we dont want a world war just to get us out of recession.

  6. Well to be fair this is the worst "recession" in 60 years, and before that you had the war and before that you had the Great Depression, so this recession is the worst in living memory, worse than 1992 and the 70's so I can understand it when they practically say "we've had it", because no amount of political spin/lies can cover this mess up.

They're basically owning up now rather than later, consider it damage limitation prior to the next GE.

We do need a leader though, unfortunatly the current crop of shite we have now forgot to order a spine when they were furnishing their second homes.

  7. Alistair Darling has played a good skillful game here!Unfortunately! The electorate are up to him!Or should I say his boss Gordon 'Incompetent' Brown.

The problems that beset the nation in the middle to late 1940s were caused primarily by the nation being at war for nearly six years!

In this case the downturn has been caused by Labour financial mismanagement!Or to put it more accurately Gordon Brown's mismanagement!

World  trade downturns just do not happen overnight but take years to take hold and talented economic politicians take steps to put sufficient money aside to 'weather the storm' But what have our two stooges done? They have spent the lot as though there was no tomorrow!Gross incompetence is the only description or political fools!

  8. I read Darling's interview in the Guardian and most of what he said was little more than the bleeding obvious, he seemed to be being pretty straight.  I am sceptical that the situation will be as bad as 1973-77 (I remember it and it was really grim), I suspect the Govt is trying to damp down expectations so that, when things don't get really bad, they can say they have managed to avoid the worst case scenario.

  9. Well said and it applies to all of the Bloody government. Lets get some respect back into government.

Old Winny had his faults but he sure knew how to rouse and stir the people into action.
