Doonane Lad strong in the Bookmakers Standard Dup
Tremendously improved and in form contender for the Grade OR Bookmakers Standard Dup is the three-year-old blue dog, Doonane Lad. He has been racing since the last two seasons, and has raced at the identical level before at multiple occasions. His target
tonight is to be the first among the lot to race over 460 metres flat at Henlow on Thursday, 8th November.
The A. Tuffin trained lost form after bagging the prize money of the Primus Telecom Derby Trial Stakes on 13th September, 2012. He found his way through in 27.63 seconds.
The next three attempts of the three-year-old were a confused mix a second, third and then a fourth position. His improved form showed up the most in the last two outings that he had at Henlow.
The third trap landed the Grade OR Westmead Hawk Trophy on 9th October, 2012 at Henlow over 550 metres. He was quick to set apart from the rest of the contenders and his determination to keep up with the leading role until the wire had him making
the transit in 34.17 seconds.
His dominance over the final length of the race saw Westmead Aouita qualifying as the runner-up.
Ballymac Maeve’s son did not compromise with the form in the next race that took form of the November Standard Dup on 1st November, 2012 at Henlow over 460 metres.
Racing in the red jacket of the first trap, the three-year-old set into a high gear early on, went smooth and well for the rest of the track distance and made it to the other end of the wire in 27.69 seconds. The favourite entry enjoyed the edge of 2 ¾ lengths
which set the orange trap, Ferryforth Paul, as the runner-up.
Making peace with the third position was, Billy Mac.
Doonane Lad has been allotted the second trap for tonight, and winning the prize money will entitle him to a hat-trick.
He is backed by 3 to 1 odds, while the most preferred candidate for the race is the 2 to 1 shot, Any Dak. The rest of the entries of the race include Rockview Royal, Doctor Robert, Ferryforth Paul and Benkaat Boy.
