Door Speakers and Subs?

Would I need to upgrade my standard speakers if i was to connect a sub to the head unit?

Depends, if your sub is really loud it could over power your speakers and you would be hearing more bass than treble (vocal, high pitches). Replacing the speakers is cheap tho and it is easy to do, you can replace the speakers yourself.

Not necessarily but if you are pushing alot of power to your sub you may drown out your stock speakers.

Well personally I have stock speakers and subs and it sound great. But I plan on upgrade to  some aftermarket compent speaker in the future. So you don't have to but it will begin out the mids/highs if you do.
