Question:

Door instillation problem, door will not meet at top when closed will not seal properly, even though level.?

Have checked for leveling,and shimed.do not know what can be done to correct problem.

  1. Sounds like the door jam isn't square. If I understand you correctly, on the side where it is the biggest gap, shim the opposite jam...so many variable..I will need more details about what's going on.


  2. need further description to help; what you mean by door will not meet at top. if the lock side of the door is higher or lower than the head jamb, then it is out of square. if the bottom of the door closes, and the top will not, then it is out of plumb, or the door is warped. the frame has to be level at head, legs and side of jamb legs.

    sounds like at least the door is warped. place a 6' level or long straight board along the room side near the edge. board should lay flat and be level vertically. if it's bowed, it can't be fixed. you can sand or plane the lock edge to help the sticking. or replace one of the center hinge screws into the jamb with a 3" s***w and try to pull the jamb closer to the studs(further from the lock jamb)
