Door-to-door fundraising techniques?

My band is going around from door to door asking for donations to the band. Does anyone know a technique, for instance a funny line, that makes people more willing to donate? Thanks

ok so when they open the door you need to say something that will CONNECT with them. if someone doesnt care about your band, why should they donate money? get them interested and start talking about what THEY want. it'll encourage them to donate. and this could be different for every house. for example if someone has american flags in front of their house you know they will be patriotic so use that and act patriotic too. people dont want to hear about how their money will help you but how it will help them. also, compliments work well. =)
