Dorell Wright talks about Big Three of Miami Heat; Says people have to understand LeBron James: NBA
Golden State Warriors star Dorell Wright recently sat down for a detailed interview, where he answered questions ranging from his China trip to his thoughts on the lockout. However, no interview with any player can be complete
without a question about the Big Three of the Miami Heat and more specifically LeBron James. Wright, when asked the same, spoke of their chances and also defended beleaguered Heat star LeBron James.
Wright, of course, has a history with the Miami Heat. He played for the side until last summer. The Heat acquired the services of LeBron and Toronto Raptors star Chris Bosh in that summer to form the Big Three, with Dwyane Wade
being the third player.
At once, the media raised a storm in Miami over the congregation of basketball stars. Huge expectations were put upon the trio by the media and by themselves as well. In all the fuss Wright quietly exited the franchise. He believed
he could become a better player away from Miami and help out another team.
Wright came to Golden State and made a significant impact. On the other hand, the Heat became a dominant force and pretty much swept all before them, until they reached the NBA Finals. They were humbled in the Finals by the Dallas
Mavericks.
Wright was asked by the interviewer whether he thinks Miami would be able to mount a successful challenge for the NBA World Championship this coming season, this is what he had to say,
“I don’t know. Each and every year I start training camp thinking about going to the playoffs and winning the championship, so hope it doesn’t work out for them! [Laughs] You know, I want to be a champion like those guys. I wish
them luck.”
Wright also took the opportunity to show his support for LeBron James. The “Chosen One” has become the most hated figure in American sports landscape in the last year. His decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers in favour of
Miami was viewed as treason by the people of Ohio.
The owner of the Cavaliers openly blasted LeBron in the immediate aftermath and since then he has become embroiled deeper and deeper in a quagmire of negativity. Some of the NBA players have come out to support him in the past
and Dorell decided to add his name to the list.
The Warriors man was of the view that LeBron did not owe it to the Cavaliers to stay. He had honoured his contract and decided that in order to win an NBA World Championship crown as soon as possible, he needed a change of location.
Dorell said there was not much wrong with James’s Decision.
“A lot of people didn’t agree with what LeBron [James] did, but people has to understand that he wants to win now and he took the best decision for himself and his family.”
