I have to ride 8 miles a day and i LOVE my bmx bike. its small, looks cool, and feels great. however it sucks for long distance rides. I hate mountain bikes and feel dorky riding them. BUT it makes a long ride more comftorable. so which one should i ride? 8 miles isnt that much distance but iv never rode that far on a BMX... should i just swallow my pride and ride a mountain bike? is it worth it? how much faster is a mountain bike compared to a bmx bike?

  1. i'd go for a road bike if i were you.. fast light and comfortable..

  2. Let me put this to you straight!

Nobody but NOBODY looks cool on a BMX! - It makes me laugh everytime time I see a BMX'er struggling to ride down the road, waggling one of those toys around . . .Get a road bike and be ultra cool.

EDIT: We can all hand out thumbs down - if we want BMXpert! - If you feel it makes your opinion more valid then 'go for it!'

Like it or not - "The truth is still the truth!"

    .

  3. A mountain bike is a lot faster.Try it I bet you grow to love it.

  4. Dorky bikes makes you look like a dark. Mountain bikes are not made for speed. I go for road bikes for transportaion. That's the way I am.

  5. The ONLY time you may look kind of cool on a BMX bike is if you are at a bike park doing some tricks, other than that, you look absolutely retarded. Everyone who rides a BMX bicycle for travel look ridiculous. They are not made for travel. If you want to reach speeds of 30mph+, use half the effort, and reach your destination in 1/4 the time, then go for a road bicycle, since that what is is made to do.

  6. Comfort and health over looks, every time.

Being a dork is a lot more comfortable.

But yeah.  No one looks cool on a BMX, except to other BMX riders.  To me it just looks immature, juvenile, etc.
