How are the dorms at Western Washington University? Are they big or small? Do they have access to kitchens? What about the bathrooms? Are there buildings with individual bathrooms for each room, or are they all like, public bathrooms?

Which dorms are the best? (I'm a guy.)

  1. the university housing website has information that will most likely help you out. the link below has all the dorms listed and you can check out the floorplan of each building... then you should be able to see how the kitchen and bathrooms are set up for each building

  2. It completely depends on which dorm you are in.  Some dorms have a few rooms that share a bathroom, others have a whole floor that share a communal bathroom.  The dorms don't have a kitchen in them, but many have a kitchen on each floor and a main lounge downstairs.  The rooms are bigger than most at UW, but still small.  Freshman mostly  live in Nash and Mathes. Choose those if you want a typical Freshman college experience. Sophomores and other freshman live on the "the ridge".  I lived there 2 years and liked it, although I didn't meet as many people freshman year as those in Mathes and Nash, Older students live in Eden's.  Avoid Highland and Higginson if you can. Fairhaven is where a lot of "granola" kids live. Also a lot of pot smokers. Birnam Woods and Buchanan Towers are mostly upperclassmen.

I enjoyed living on campus. I lived in Delta freshman year and the room was pretty small, but I lived in a 4 room suite in Gamma sophomore year and the room was a good size. Plus, the bathroom was huge (although only one shower for 8 people.)
