Dorotea Sutara topples Maja Pavlinić in final round of Finnish International Junior Championships
Women’s Singles expert Dorotea Sutara played flawless badminton and remained invincible in the final round of Forza Finnish International Junior Championships on November 25, 2012.
She defeated her compatriot shuttler Maja Pavlinić in a hard fought battle which prolonged to 45 minutes before ending with 8-21, 21-17 and 21-14 margin.
Both Croatian campaigners made this a memorable contest by showing great fighting spirit throughout this tussle.
Maja Pavlinić ruled the court in the opening game but Dorotea Sutara locked the honour by prevailing in the last two games.
The first set of match proved a one-sided affair as Maja did not give her rival even a single chance to proceed on the points table and left her far behind with a huge difference of 13 points.
She kick-started her campaign with couple of uninterrupted rallies and established an early advantage.
She did not drop her pace and reached to a respectable score position of 11 before the one-minute break.
After the interval, Maja mounted pressure by claiming some valuable points in a row and then magnified the impact with a flurry of well placed strokes. She finished first set of the match with a favourable margin of 21-8.
The following game was filled with great sensation as at one stage Maja was in strong position to wrap this showdown in just two games but then the opposing shuttler came in her way to success.
Dorotea, who was top seeded player in this tournament, revived her lost touch when it mattered and counter-balanced the situation.
Though, she took some time to read her rival’s game but managed to stay close on points table before the mid-game break.
She switched on her best in the ending part and finished this crucial game with a convincing figure of 21-17.
This revised match score position subjected both contenders to a tough trial and they made every effort to pocket the final match point.
They remained equal in the establishing rallies but then Dorotea Sutara showed elevated craft and tipped the scale in her favour.
She maintained a significant difference of seven points and claimed the crown after putting 21-14 total.
