Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp criticises his team on missing clear chances against Marseille
Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp believes that his team missed a number of chances against Olympique Marseille on Wednesday. The two clubs locked heads on Wednesday, September 28, in a UEFA Champions League encounter at Stade Velodrome.
The French outfit registered a comfortable 3-0 win over the Germans, courtesy a goal from Loic Remy and an Andre Ayew brace. Marseille completely dominated the stage, giving no easy way out to the reigning Bundesliga champions.
Dortmund went into the game as underdogs and left the country in humiliation. The struggling Borussians were forced onto the back foot by Les Phoceens, who were constantly on the offensive, from the opening minute.
The visiting side got a few chances in between but squandered all of their opportunities resulting in a heavy defeat. Ayew opened the scoring in the 20thminute and their lead was doubled by Remy on the 62nd minute mark. The hosts won
a penalty which was converted by Ayew in the 68th minute to register his second and the team’s third goal of the evening.
The Dortmund manager praised the French side on their display but at the same time reserved criticism for his troops on missing clear cut chances. He reckons that had Mario Goetze scored in the second half, the entire scenario could have been different.
While talking to French media after the game, Klopp further enthused, "After we conceded the first goal we lost some of our organisation. We allowed them to counterattack more. However, even though Marseille scored three goals, we had more quality chances
than them. Mario Goetze could easily have scored a few goals today and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mats-Hummels-c24767 made one mistake which we were punished for. Once they scored a third goal, it was all over for us."
With a loss in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in the second spot.
