Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller is aiming for another breakthrough season with the club. The player claimed that the club’s focus will not be only on the Bundesliga but the team will also try to do well in the German
Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
Die Borussen had a great last season as they secured the Bundesliga title but were not so impressive in the UEFA Europa League and the DFB Pokal. The club reached the second round in the German Cup after losing out to Kickers Offenbach
on penalties and were eliminated in the Group stages of the European competition.
Weidenfeller claimed that defending the League title next season would be amongst the side’s top priorities but other competitions could not be ignored. He added that the team wants to do equally well in the DFB Pokal and the Europa
League as well to prove that they can cope with the pressure and that last season’s success was not a fluke.
“We mustn't neglect the Bundesliga, even though we obviously want to get as far as we can in the DFB Cup and Champions League as well. We want to play a leading role in the league this year as well. Above all, we want to build
on last season's achievements,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former FC Kaiserslautern goalkeeper is excited to face some of the top teams in the world when they take part in Europe’s Premier club competition. He stated that the club would relish any opportunity to play alongside the

“Getting Real Madrid or Barcelona and Manchester United or Arsenal would make it a fantastic group for sure. But any one of those heavyweights would be enough for starters, given that we want to make it into the next round,” the
