Dortmund’s Sebastian Kehl refusing to be complacent despite leading the table
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl has played down his side’s title chances as for now and wants to concentrate on the remaining matches of the season despite being top of the table. The player claimed that the team cannot
afford to be complacent at any cost and have to continue winning matches with consistency as there are many teams who have the potential to win the league this term.
The Borussians are now undefeated in the last eight games in the Bundesliga with their last defeat being in September against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492. The team is on a sensational run of form and has downed the likes of Schalke and Bayern
Munich in the last two weeks.
Kehl claimed that the current standings do not matter to him. The player admitted that it is brilliant that the team is top of the table but warned his side against complacency. He stated that it would be great if they are at the
top at the end of the season rather than now.
“It doesn't matter who's top now, or in December or January. In May is when it matters, but we've got a lot of work to do before then. Being top is nice, but it doesn't mean anything now. For us it's important to be up there at
the end of the season,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German international complained about the hectic fixture list this season. He stated that the team played in London against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in a UEFA Champions league clash on Wednesday and had to return to play Schalke at home on
Saturday. The player revealed that the team had virtually no time to train ahead of the Die Knappen clash.
“We didn't really have a lot of time as we only came back from London on Thursday afternoon. We were at the training ground for a short while and the coach made it clear to us that we needed to forget about the defeat and concentrate
on Schalke,” he concluded.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Kehl-c32732 has so far made 192 league appearances for Borussia Dortmund and scored 17 goals in the process.
