  1. You don't need the policy to make a claim, just call Metropolitan.

If your trying to locate determine if other policies existed you should:

Search through all the papers and documents in their house if they have a policy you should come across it.

You may have to go through all the old checkbooks to find when the premium was last paid. This might mean looking back as far as one year.

Check old credit card statements. Your relative may have paid premiums by credit card.

Ask your relatives lawyer, banker, or accountant.

Track down your relatives auto or home insurance agents.

If they were employed they may have some coverage with the employer.

Wait until the next premium notice is sent.

You can also have the Medical Information Bureau conduct a policy search for $75.

  2. You don't NEED the policy, to file the claim.  You just call the company.

Unless you're the executor of the estate, they won't give you any information, anyway.  It's a private transaction.  You file a claim, the beneficiary gets the check.

There's no central database, which is what I think you're asking.

  3. you would need to be the direct benificiary it the person you speak of died, if they did the policy would be left to the person who was left in charge. If the death was accidental then they could claim if all the circumstances where met. If you just wanted to know about someones policy sorry your out of luck that is private.
