Dose anyone have any tips on javelin?

  1. i threw for my first year last yr and missed goin to state by 1inch it really sucked but i can go this yr. be confortable, practice a lot, ask coaches, make sure u plant ur front foot hard and its in the whip when you turn ur body remember that. good luck


  2. This is going to be my third year throwing the javeling for my high school. And for both my freshman and sophmore years, I made it to states, since girls is only 93ft for qualifying. What you want to do, is actually learn the steps for the approach. Sounds stupid but it helps a lot. If you are righty, like myself, you start with your left foot. Count in your head, 1,2,3,4... 1,2,3,4... 1,2,3,4,5. And on that last 4 that's when you plant your right foot and block your left on the 5th. Blocking simply means having a straight left leg.

    For the actual throwing, have the javelin above your head, and around the the last 1, pull back, have your arm come to the same side as the javelin. Then whip your arm around as you are planting and blocking. It's hard at first, but it get's easier with practice. Good Luck!
