Dose anyone know if insurance covers smoke and water damage affeted areas along with fire damage areas?

my house just recently burned half was lost do to the fire. what wasnt burned was damaged by smoke and water

  1. It depends on the policy, the coverage, the company, the adjustor, and the incident.  Perhaps contacting your insurance company would be smarter than asking about it on Yahoo Answers.


  2. If you have a homeowners policy, yes all smoke & water damage will be covered up to policy limits.

    The insurer will also pay for temporary boarding up of the property.  Make sure your house is secure (ask your adjuster to find a company to do the board up and make sure the insurer is billed directly).  If you fail to secure the house and it gets robbed or vandalized, then it's on you for not taking care of it.

  3. Smoke and water damage is a covered loss on most fire or homeowner policies.....if you are a TENANT, your furnishings AREN'T covered.

    Call your insurance agent and he should be able to explain it to you better!
