Dose gearing increase torque that the motor put out ?

for example if a motor put out 200 pounds of torque alone can putting low gearing make it put out 250-300 pounds of torque with the motor and the lower gearing

  1. The engine makes the same torque but gearing changes how the torque is applied.


  2. No, the gearing will change the mechanical advantage going to the wheels.       A lower ratio will increase pulling power and acceleration while decreasing top end speed. A higher ratio will do the opposite.

  3. No it doesn't, only careful tuning of the engine will increase the torque & power of an engine. Lowering the gearing simply changes the acceleration & deceleration characteristics of the car.

  4. no,,it can't change what the engine puts out...it can change whats put to the ground...gain in low speed TQ equals loss of top end HP.
