There is a onetime cost of (currently) $2211 to join and then you pay yearly dues. However, it's not just a matter of joining. SAG is a union for professional actors, therefore you must be a professional actor to join. It's not for newbies.

You can claim your status either by the 3 voucher system, working a principal role under a SAG contract or through a sister union. It's all laid our on the SAG website - www.sag.org
