ya surf pads will work just make sure you buy one meant for the type of water you will be riding in here are some links to both surf pads and skim pads

i saw a few kids out there sticking them on the boards and it looked like they were sticking really nicely but you have to have good aim to land your foot on the pad. i use one when i surf and im guessing the performance is the same, but go to a surfshop and ask them because they are the experts
