I always go to Best Buy and buy the membership so they don't have my credit card...Its a huge pain in the a-- to get them to delete it from your account

if u have a 360 just buy a membership card. i always get the 12+1 mouth. u could also pay every month like the original xbox only if u put ur credit card in the system. But i wouldn't risk gettin hacked by a modder so store bought is much better

I wouldn't say it "sucks you into any payment," but it does automatically charge you every year unless you jump through some hoops and tell it not to.
