Dota 2 Hero Spotlight – Zeus the Lord of Olympus
Introduction
Zeus the Lord of Olympus may be small in size, but do let that fool you for his potential to damage his foes is the exact opposite.
He is a ranged intelligence hero who may come off as cuddly, but is in actual dangerous. Capable of manipulating lightning as well as summoning it from the skies, there is no place on the map where his enemies are safe from feeling his wrath. Overwhelming his enemies with the use of lightning, Zeus roams the map like a true lord, daring his opponents to stand their ground and face his thunder instead of fleeing.
His overall attributes may not be anything to write home about since they are one of the lowest in Defense of the Ancients (Dota) 2. However, with the ability to chain his abilities together to deal a devastating amount of burst damage, he is arguably one of the best gankers and worst heroes to lane against in the game. The low cool-down of his spells allow them to be used more than just once or twice in a battle. There is hardly any complexity to using his skills, thus making him ideal for players who are relatively new to Dota 2.
Arc Lightning
Zeus’ first spell is named Arc Lightning. It is a single-target skill that deals 145 damage to a target and bounce up to 15 times at Level 4. There is absolutely no reduction in damage of Arc Lightning with each bounce. If the main target has Linken’s Sphere equipped, it will block the spell. However, this is something that can be taken care of easily by targeting another hero instead of him as he will still take damage from the jump.
Arc Lightning is most commonly used to last-hit creeps as well as harass enemy heroes early in the game, thus making it extremely hard for them to farm with ease. The low two-second cool-down of the skill allows it to be spammed, thus increasing its utility drastically.
Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt is the name of Zeus’ second ability. It too is a single-target skill which deals 350 damage to an enemy at Level 4. The skill also mini-stuns the target on contact, provides True Sight within 900 range and reveal 1000 units of the surrounding area for three seconds. All these things add up to make the skill arguably one of the best nukes in the game. That is not all. Lightning Bolt only has a cool-down of 6.5 seconds, thus allowing Zeus to use it without too much hesitation.
Static Field
Static Field is the only passive skill that Zeus has. It activates each time he casts any of his spells, causing all enemies within a 1000 Area of Effect (AoE) to be shocked of 11 percent of their current health-points (HP). Static Field synergises extremely well with his other skills as spamming his spells allows him to cause that much more damage to his enemies.
Thundergod’s Wrath
Zeus’ ultimate is named Thundergod’s Wrath. Not only is it one of the few global ultimates in the game, it is arguably one of the most lethal. Maxing out the skill will allow him to deal 475 damage to all enemy heroes on the map, irrespective of where their location. However, invisible units will not take damage from this skill. Aside from dealing damage, Thundergod’s Wrath also provides True Sight at the target’s location even if its invisible and will also reveal the surroundings for three seconds.
Aghanim’s Scepter works for Zeus as it takes the damage of his ultimate from 475 to 640. This, in combination with Refresher Orb, can simply overwhelm the enemy team, though a large mana pool is required to pull this off.
