Dota 2 Hero Spotlight: Mirana the Priestess of the Moon
One of the most popular heroes in Defense of the Ancients (Dota) 2, Mirana the Priestess of the Moon is adept at serving a number of roles quite efficiently. Newbie players race to pick her as she is pretty easy to play with, though that advance players
need not to worry as they will still have plenty of opportunity to own by using their experience to use her even more effectively.
Mirana can indeed be considered to be one of the most versatile heroes in the game, capable of serving a number of roles, courtesy of her abilities that range from nuke, to stun and even has an excellent escape mechanism.
In order to get a better idea of her potential and why she is a heavy favourite for players, both novice and advanced, let us take a look at the skills that she has at her disposal.
Starstorm
Her first ability Starstorm is a nuke that calls down a wave of stars from the skies, dealing 300 damage to all enemies within a 625 Area of Effect (AoE). One unfortunate enemy creep or hero within a 175 AoE of her will get struck by an additional wave,
though this wave will deal half of the amount of damage deal by other waves and the unit/hero will be consequently dealt 450 damage.
This skill allows her to clear creep waves, regardless of their size, with apparent ease. This consequently helps her in farming and making it possible for her to rush items in very little time. It also makes her an excellent lane pusher.
Arrow
Her second ability Arrow is one of the most effective disabler in the game, having the potential to leave the target unit stunned for up to 5 seconds and damaging them for 360 at the max. The duration of the stun depends on the distance the arrow travels
before making an impact with the enemy target, with the duration increasing by 0.5 seconds for every 150 units that it travels. Invisible units do not get stunned by the arrow, but will still take the 360 damage if they get hit.
Despite not being a single-target spell, Arrow’s unique mechanic causes it to be blocked by Linken’s Sphere.
Leap
This skill is what makes Mirana an extremely difficult hero to corner. It can be used for both initiation as well as escape purposes, though it can also be used to close in the gap after striking an enemy hero with the arrow to make the most of the duration
of stun.
Using Leap will cause the white tiger that Mirana rides to jump 840 units in the direction she and her tiger are facing at that particular moment. Additionally, any allies within a 775 AoE around her landing position will have a 16 percent increase in both
their movement as well as attack speed. If timed perfectly, the skill can also be used to dodge certain projectiles.
Moonlight Shadow
Her ultimate turns her whole team, including herself, invisible for 11 seconds after a 1.5-second fade-time at its highest level. The skill can be used for both aggressive as well as defensive purposes, i.e. preparing and initiating a gank as well as allowing
the team from escaping an imminent death.
Mirana is indeed a powerful hero in the sense that she is extremely well-balanced and serves as a valuable asset for her team.
