Dota 2 Hero Spotlight: Ulfsaar the Ursa Warrior
Introduction
Ulfsaar the Ursa Warrior, also known as Fuzzy Wuzzy, is hands-down one of the deadliest opponent to face in a one-on-one bout in Defence of the Ancients (Dota) 2. He is an atypical agility hero in the sense that the bulkier he gets, the more damage he will
be able to deal to his foes. This effectively makes him an extremely hard hero to kill and at the same time a real power-house.
Earthshock
His first ability Earthshock is an active skill that, when triggered, will cause him to stomp the ground. The stomp will affect units in a 365 Area of Effect (AoE) around him, dealing 240 damage as well as reducing their movement speed by 55 percent for
four seconds. Even though the skill itself is pretty effective, it truly shines when used in combination with his other skills.
Overpower
His second ability is named Overpower. When activated, it boosts his attack speed to the maximum for either a set number of attacks or a limited duration, whichever is consumed first. At its highest level, Overpower gives Ursa a maximum attack speed for
either six attacks or duration of 15 seconds. The skill not only synergises exceptionally well with his first skill Earthshock, but becomes extremely deadly once used in combination with his third skill that we will talk about next.
Fury Swipes
His third ability is called Fury Swipes. It is a passive orb skill that allows Ursa to do an extra bit of damage on each successive heat, enabling him to deal a huge amount of damage in a very short time. Once the skill is maxed, Ursa will deal an extra
25 damage to the target unit on each hit. If the same enemy is focused within the next six-second period, Ursa will deal an additional 25 damage. There is no limit to the number of times the 25 damage stacks. Fury Swipes is what makes Ursa extremely deadly
in fights. Imagine slowing down your enemy with Earthshock, activating Overpower and dealing quick blows to the enemy in a short span of time, with each blow stacking an extra 25 damage. There are very few heroes who are capable of withstanding such an intake
of damage and staying alive to tell the tale.
Enrage
Enrage is Ursa’s ultimate and is the reason for my stating that he is not your typical agility hero. When the ultimate is activated, it will send Ursa into a frenzy, causing him to deal seven percent of his current hit-points as damage for as long as fifteen
seconds. It is for these very reason health-boosting items are preferred for him. A common choice of such items include Vanguard, which not only gives him extra bit of hit-points but also allows him to block damage, Heart of Tarrasque, which gives a huge hit-point
boost and also offers an insane amount of hit-point regeneration. Black King Bar is also a popular choice for him as it gives him temporary magic immunity, allowing him to pull off his combo successfully without getting interrupted by disables or other spells.
More often than not, players would get a Blink Dagger for Ursa in order to help Ursa get in position to execute his combo. The item also allows him to take enemies by surprise and thus quickly dish out huge amounts of damage before the latter is able to
register the situation.
